How do I book my tattoo session?

Make sure to explain and share your ideas, placement and size to help your artist understand what you are after.

Are walk-ins welcomed?

Joya Tattoo Collective is mainly an appointment-based studio.

It is better to schedule an appointment with one of our artists before visiting the studio. There is a possibility that the artist you have in mind may be busy however, if any other artists are available, you are welcome to discuss your preferences and get your tattoo done.

Do you tattoo people under 18?

In NSW it is legal to get a tattoo if you are over 16 years old, but with your parents being present and a consent form being filled. At Joya studio, we have a few artists who would consider tattooing an underage with the presence of a parent, documentation and the consent form. Before booking your session, check with the artist if they are ok with that before booking.

Is getting a tattoo painful?

Accepted Answer

Pain tolerance varies from person to person. Some body parts are more sensitive than others. If you are worried about the pain, talk with the artist; they can take breaks and will do their best to make you comfortable during the process.

Do you offer touch-up sessions for tattoos?

Accepted Answer

Yes, if you feel that your tattoo needs a touch-up session, simply contact your artist. You can send them a picture of your healed tattoo, and they will work with you to schedule a touch-up session.

During your tattoo session, you'll have the opportunity to discuss with your artist their way of working regarding touch-ups. Some artists may offer a complimentary touch-up within a certain period, while others may charge for touch-up services after this period. (This charge typically covers the cost of disposable materials used during the session).

Our goal is to ensure that you're completely satisfied with your tattoo and that it continues to look its best over time.

How long does it take a tattoo to heal?

Accepted Answer

Usually, after 15 days, you are able to go back to your normal routine, but the tattoo will be fully healed after 45 days. Depending on the size, placement and your immune system's healing ability, it can take a little longer.

How do I take care of my new tattoo?

Accepted Answer

Your artist will provide detailed aftercare instructions. Generally, you'll need to: Wash gently with mild soap and water, use a clean towel to pat dry gently, apply the aftercare product your artist recommended, keep it out of direct sunlight, avoid swimming or soaking until healed, avoid scratching or picking at it. It is essential to listen to your artist's advice and look out for redness, swelling, or pain, as that may indicate an infection.

What should I do to prepare for my tattoo appointment?

Accepted Answer

Make sure to eat a good meal, stay hydrated, get plenty of rest and avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications before your appointment. Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the area you're getting tattooed.

Can I bring my design or will the artist make one for me?

If you have a design that you want to turn into a tattoo, you can bring it to your consult however, it's important to know that not all types of art can be turned into a tattoo. If any adaptation is needed, our artists will let you know. Alternatively, our artists can work with you to create a custom design based on your ideas and preferences.
